Research Assistants (RAs)

Our primary recruitment method for undergraduate research assistants (RAs) is through the Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program (URAP) administered by the University of California Berkeley. Open project descriptions and applications typically open 1-2 weeks before the semester begins and close on Monday of the second week of classes of each term. We accept undergraduate students of any major, with any level of research experience. All skills needed to be successful in the lab are taught during the onboarding process. Only undergraduate Berkeley students may apply.

We are currently reviewing applications for volunteer RAs for Summer 2024. If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out this application by May 19, 2024 at 11:59 pm PT. Summer research is anticipated to start early June.

HIGHER Lab RA's present their end-of-the-semester projects (Fall 2022).

Graduate Students

If you are interested in working with Dr. Hudson as a graduate student, you must first apply and be accepted into the Berkeley Haas PhD Program as a part of the Management of Organizations (MORS) - Micro Program. Accepted PhD students formally select their mentor during their second year of the program.

Note: This process differs from most PhD models, where candidates apply directly to work with faculty mentor(s).

Visiting Student Researcher

If you are interested in working with Dr. Hudson as a Visiting Student Researcher (VSR), visit this website before reaching out to our lab to see if you meet the minimum requirements. Berkeley requires that you are a student that possesses at least a Bachelor’s degree and is currently pursuing a degree in a degree-granting program at another university outside of the UC system.
